Things to think about and information to have when you are seen for your new patient physical or your annual physical examination.
Always bring your new medical insurance card with you so that we can update this information.
Always check when we see you that we have your updated address and telephone number so that if we need to contact you about your results we can do so.
Reminders:
- Immunizations (tetanus booster every 10 years; annual flu shot; pneumonia vaccines at age 64 and 65; shingles vaccine at age 50)
- Pap smear (start no later than 21 and then every 1-2 years depending on type of smear test done). Screening can stop at 70 under most circumstances.
- Mammogram (baseline at age 50 and then at least every 2 years, but family history must be taken into account)
- Bone density (baseline when at menopause, but definitely at age 65 and then repeat every two years)
- Colonoscopy (baseline at age 50 if no family history of colon cancer). No screening after age 75.
